On April 26, a group of 20 international experts gathered at UNIGE for the first day of the AI Dialogues, which focused on the key question: "Is international governance of AI possible?"

This first interim note is based on the discussions held during the inaugural day of the AI Dialogues, a three-day cycle of in-depth exchanges on international AI governance and the role of civil society (and its representatives) in promoting its interests.
The participants initially explored the nature and various functions that a global AI framework should encompass. They then shed light on the main challenges hindering its implementation and discussed other international governance models that could inform AI governance at the global level.
