Our activities

Renaissance Numérique is a forum for debate and for the positive confrontation of expertise and ideas. We aim to enlighten the public debate on the digital transformation of society, by organising events, launching working groups or ad hoc projects, which can either be short or long term. The discussions and expertise that result from these collective reflections are promoted through various written formats (reports, notes, interviews, op-eds, etc.) and events (both open to the public or reserved for the think tank's members). On this page, you will find out more about our activities and our collaborative working method!

Renaissance Numérique regularly organises high-level events and meetings that are either public or reserved for its members. The think tank’s focus on public interest enables it to offer a rare quality and freedom of exchange with the public and private sector decision-makers who are shaping policies related to the digital transformation of society in France and Europe.

“OFF-the-Record Meetings”

Our “OFF-the-Record Meetings” (formerly “Chatham House Club”) offer Renaissance Numérique members a unique and exclusive opportunity to discuss with key players in digital public policy on current and highly strategic topics. Since we launched this concept, we have welcomed more than 40 actors involved in French and European digital public policy.

“Aux Sources du Numérique” (ASDN) cycle

The ASDN cycle is a regular series of meetings with authors of recent works on digital issues. These meetings, which are open to all, aim to discover their analyses of the issues raised by the digital transformation of society and to discuss them collectively. They are generally accessible online or in a hybrid format This cycle of events is organised in partnership with the French Digital Council (Conseil national du numérique or CNNum) and essayist Hubert Guillaud.

Dialogues

Our ‘Dialogues’ are days of study and collective work uniting French, European and international experts to debate the societal, economic and technological issues surrounding a specific digital subject. This engaging, international, multi-dimensional and multi-disciplinary approach enables a limited circle of participants (often around twenty) to take part in high-level exchanges.

In 2022 and 2023, Renaissance Numérique gathered experts from around the world as part of three ‘Dialogues’ on the Metaverse:

In 2023 and 2024, Renaissance Numérique brought together experts from around the world for three ‘Dialogues’ centred on the international governance of artificial intelligence:

Our publications are the result of discussions between our members and external experts. They aim to shed light on the digital transformation and its impact on citizens.

Reports

Each year, the think tank produces on average one comprehensive report based on a collective analysis of a specific topic. Renaissance Numérique reports are recognised as highly qualitative documents. They are produced over a period of several months, and rely as much on the expertise and knowledge of members who have specifically set up a working group around the selected subject, as on those of external experts who are invited to contribute (generally via hearings or events). Each report published by Renaissance Numérique puts forward recommendations defending the interests of citizens.

Notes

Renaissance Numérique’s notes are publications that are a few pages long. They mostly reflect the think tank’s position on a current topic or a topic that is at the heart of digital policy debates, a bill that has been proposed at the French or European level, or a public consultation. Each note is written and reviewed by a small group of members.
