Renaissance Numérique welcomes its new General Manager

On Wednesday 23 November, Renaissance Numérique welcomed its new General Manager, Jean-François LUCAS. In close collaboration with the rest of the team, his mission will be to manage the think tank's activities. His priority will be the development of Renaissance Numérique and its network. The recruitment of a profile with a "hybrid" background, combining research and consulting, and fundamentally rooted in human sciences, fits perfectly with the think tank's ambitious development project.

Jean-François LUCAS holds a PhD in sociology and a Master’s degree in “Information, communication, innovation, networks and uses” from Université Rennes 2.

Before joining Renaissance Numérique, he was Director of the Smart Territories and Sustainable Digital expertise at Auxilia/Chronos (part of the SOS Group), which he joined in 2018 as a consultant-researcher, before becoming Project Manager in 2021.

Jean-François has also worked for several years in the field of design and management of innovative research projects (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne; Télécom ParisTech) bringing together academics (in human and social sciences and engineering), industrial players, and public actors, as well as artists. In this capacity, managed the Chair of Modeling of the Imagination, Innovation and Creation (MODIM), where he carried out theoretical and practical work on imaginations and industrial innovation (on the smart city and the augmented body).

Throughout his career, he has explored various topics related to those that animate us at Renaissance Numérique: big data, civic tech, innovation, smart cities, virtual and immersive environments, the metaverse, digital data governance…

Jean-François has taught in various schools and universities: Sciences Po, Télécom Paris, Strate École de design, and Université Rennes 2.

Nicolas Vanbremeersch,

President of Renaissance Numérique

"I am delighted to welcome Jean-François Lucas to Renaissance Numérique. He will help us develop the think tank of the digital society. Renaissance Numérique seeks to be a place of discussion, strategy and research on society, which confronts expertise and seeks to feed into the public debate. Jean-François' culture, his taste for the subject, and his ability to get different stakeholders to work together on complex projects, will be decisive for our project”.
