Lucien Castex
Lucien Castex is a member of the Board of Directors of Renaissance Numérique. Since September 2024, Lucien is the Advisor to the Director General for Internet Governance and Society, AFNIC (Association française pour le nommage Internet en coopération). Previously, he was AFNIC’s representative for public affairs and partnership development.
A specialist in digital law and policy, Lucien is also a research associate at Sorbonne-Nouvelle University and teaches communication law. He was appointed in April 2019 to the National Advisory Commission on Human Rights (CNCDH). He is also co-chair of the organizing committee of the French Internet Governance Forum and a member of the IGF Multistakeholder Advisory Group at the international level. Before joining Afnic, Lucien was Secretary General of the Internet Society (ISOC) France. He has also worked for UNESCO, the Institut National de l’Audiovisuel (INA) and the Techniques, Territories and Societies Laboratory (Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, Gustave-Eiffel University, CNRS). Trained in law (EFB, Universities of Paris II, Paris V and Paris X), Lucien is a graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieure (DEC), as well as of the University of Paris IV in philosophy and sociology.
