Étienne Drouard
Étienne Drouard is one of the most prominent lawyers in France focusing on information technology, privacy and data protection matters. He is recognized by Chambers & Partners, Europe and Lawyer of the Year since 2018 as one of the top five specialists in France.
His work includes regulatory proceedings and advisory, commercial and M&A transactions, as well as national and international disputes and digital crisis management.
Étienne advises private and public entities operating IT and telecom infrastructures, online services, digital media, e-commerce, artificial intelligence, mobility and transport services, financial, insurance and payment services, blockchain, cryptography, digital advertising and marketing, consumer protection, life science and healthcare.
Étienne started his career at CNIL (the French Data Protection Authority) in 1996 and joined private practice in 1999. He has notably contributed to drafting and lobbying with the “ePrivacy” Directives and draft Regulations, including the “GDPR”, between 2010 and 2016.
He has worked at several international and global law firms and joined Hogan Lovells since February 2020 as partner in the Privacy and Cybersecurity practice in Paris, along with his team.
