AI Dialogue #3 – “How to involve citizens & civil society in the global governance of AI?”

The third session of the AI Dialogues series

On Thursday, October 10, 2024, the third and final day of the “AI Dialogues” series organised by Renaissance Numérique as held at Sciences Po Paris. The “AI Dialogues” offer days of high-level exchanges on the international governance of artificial intelligence (AI) for the benefit of civil society, with the aim of drawing up recommendations for decision-makers and stakeholders involved in the development and management of AI.

The aim of the third day of the AI Dialogues was to explore ways of better involving citizens and civil society in the global governance of AI. To that end, Renaissance Numérique brought together over 15 multidisciplinary experts from academic institutions, governments, technology companies and civil society, from France and abroad. Discussions focused on the following key questions: how can civil society become involved in the different “spaces” and moments of AI governance? What challenges does it face in doing so and how can they be overcome? And how can bridges be built between the different levels of civil society/citizen participation (local, national, global…) ?
