“OFF-The-Record Meeting” with Mathieu Weill

Chief Digital Officer of the French Ministry of the Interior

Members-only event, Paris

Tuesday 21st January 2025, from 8:30am to 10am

The Renaissance Numérique “OFF-The-Record Meetings” give members of the think tank the opportunity to engage in a privileged dialogue with those involved in public digital policy. Since its launch, this series has welcomed nearly 50 key figures involved in French and European digital policy.

On Tuesday January 21st, 2024, we are delighted to welcome Mathieu Weill, Chief Digital Officer of the French Ministry of the Interior.

This exchange will provide an opportunity to discuss the many challenges associated with his current role. We’ll be talking about the digitization of the Ministry’s activities (dematerialization, issuance of identity papers, etc.), as well as issues relating to public safety. These include the use of digital technologies in investigations and the surveillance of public spaces, as well as concrete examples such as the blocking of TikTok in New Caledonia last May.

With his experience as head of the digital department at the Direction Générale des Entreprises, Mathieu Weill will also shed valuable light on how his ministry is approaching digital transformation, particularly in comparison with the strategies implemented at Bercy. Finally, he will share his vision of the challenges posed by the global governance of digital regulation, while offering perspectives on his ministry’s relations with Brussels and French regulators.

As usual, you will also be able to ask him any questions you may have during the Q&A session.
